Lacoste and the beginnings of the brand in polo shirts.

The Lacoste brand was created by René Lacoste , a French tennis player. He founded the company in 1933.

Today, Lacoste has marked the history of fashion , culture and second hand. But in 1933 René Lacoste started with a logo on his shirt which he wore when playing tennis. The original idea was to create a shirt that would be comfortable and easy to wear on the court but also fashionable enough for everyday wear. René Lacoste created the concept of his "Lacoste shirt"

Lacoste as the brand we know today.

The brand is now one of the most popular fashion brands in the world and has expanded into other categories such as watches, fragrances, eyewear, shoes and accessories. The Lacoste brand has indeed a strong heritage, covering the fields of tennis, sport and fashion.

Although Lacoste has always been associated with sport. The brand is no longer just for athletes. It has become a fashion staple for people of all ages and walks of life. The company slogan being "Elegance, Simplicity, Style". Today it is mainly thanks to the vintage Lacoste tracksuits that we love this brand and we know that all generations can wear them.

Lacoste and its recent history

In the 1990s, hip-hop culture took over France and Lacoste was part of it when rappers like the group Arsenik started wearing their clothes on stage . Indeed, the crocodile brand initially reacted very badly to the popularity of its Lacoste tracksuits in the cities of France. It was only years later that Lacoste would sponsor Roméo Elvis.

Lacoste and its sponsors in sport

The company has sponsored many different athletes over the years . Some of the more notable athletes Lacoste has sponsored are Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev , Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Jérémy Chardy . The company has also sponsored many different sporting events including the NBA (with Lacoste sponsoring the NBA Top 10) and Lacoste has also been a sponsor of the ATP World Tour . The company also sponsors people in France and these ambassadors are people who have a connection with Lacoste such as sportsmen or fashion designers.

Vintage Lacoste, the traces left by the brand

The company has been around for over 80 years and has created many different styles of clothing including polo shirts, t-shirts, sweaters, jackets and shoes.
